Lady Loch – League Race 6

The final race in the WP League Series, and what a series it’s been to date.

We return to Lady Loch, a grand old favourite of many of you.  The weather is looking promising and the racing will be HOT as participants strive for those last few points towards the league title.

Unfortunately we will not be accommodating the U/17’s and U/19 Development riders at this event as a youth specific event will be held the same day at Killarney.  Please click on that calendar item for entries.

Century City Criterium

The Century City Sport Festival celebrates its 12th year of existence. The City Cycling Club has been hosting the criterium for the Sports Festival from the first edition and has seen it grow in leaps and bounds. Racing is around a 1.5 kilometre circuit which is secured by the very competent Century City Property Owners security staff. This is an ideal event to test the legs before the WP Road League that commences from the middle of March.

 

The season opening Century City Criterium takes place on 1 March 2020.  The ever popular crit race is hosted by Century City in conjunction with the City Cycling Club.  Racing starts at 8h00.

Boland Landbou – League Race #4

The final race in the Autumn Series sees us move out to the Winelands again and the familiar Windmeul circuit.  This time we’ll be starting at Boland Landbou College.

Categories, Routes and distances

The following categories will be used based on ability and/or age;  Should there be 10 or more ladies, a separate race will be held for them.  The decision on this will be made on the Friday before the race.

A new number and frame board, complete with timing chips will be issued at the first event you enter.  Should you have lost either the frame board or the bib number, a new one can be purchased at Registration at a cost of R100

Parking will be in the grounds of Boland Landbou.  Parking will also be available along the approach road to the college.

Cancellation Policy

The organisers of the Western Cape Championships reserve the right to cancel the race should circumstances dictate.  If we cancel the race 7 or more days before the time (on or before 26 May 2024) we will refund those who have entered 60% of their race fee.  Anytime after that, we will refund 30% of your entry fee.  Alternatively, arrangements can be made with the registration team to carry the race fee over to the rescheduled event.  Should you request a refund, when the rescheduled event is announced, you will be required to pay the full amount again.

Entrants who cancel their entries 7 or more days before the time (on or before 26 May 2024) will be refunded 30% of their entry fee.  Cancellations in the 7 days prior to the event, or on the day itself, will not be refunded.

Perdeberg Lite

Off we go to one of our favourite venues – Perdeberg Cellars – for our next race.  But don’t let the title fool you – there’s nothing LITE about this race.  5 loops of a challenging 25km circuit mean 125km in the legs and 1300m of climbing.  Just what’s needed a couple of weeks before the Cape Town Cycle Tour.

Don’t forget to support Eat@Perdeberg – Rob and his team make the most amazing breakfast buns plus a pizza after the race will be great for recovery

COVID Regulations

We are  still required to adhere to the COVID-19 regulations that have been published by the Department of Sport and Culture.  To this end we require that all cyclists maintain social distancing while not racing.  The use of masks prior to the start of the race is compulsory.  You will be required to have your temperature taken at the entrance to the Registration Venue.

It is imperative that we adhere to the social distancing protocols.  We are looking at ways to work within the bounds laid down by CSA and the Department of Sport and Culture to ensure that we can hold a successful event.

Zevenwacht Circuit

DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES WE HAVE HAD TO CANCEL THIS RACE. APOLIGIES FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE CAUSED!

Race personnel will contact those of you who have already entered to arrange for an entry to another WPCA race.

We’re happy to announce a NEW race!!!!  The Zevenwacht Circuit race will take place on 21 November.  Racing starts at the Zevenwacht Mall and heads towards Stellenbosch up Polkadraai Road before crossing over into Vlaeberg at the strawberry farm.  A few fast and furious loops around a 15km circuit before finishing at the top of Polkadraai before returning the Zevenwacht.  A stunning little route!

This is the second part of our double header!!!  The first race is at Atlantis on 7 November – don’t forget to enter both if you wish to be eligible for a podium place.

Bon Mella

This race sees the start of the Autumn Series and the introduction of a new race to the program.

This race starts at the Attie van Wyk Primary School on Adderley Road, Durbanville Farms.  Cyclists head out towards Philadelphia Road where they travel in a circuitous route around the Paardeberg area.  A total of 96km for all categories.

Category 4 and scholars u/15 and below will not take part here.

Red Hill

The Red Hill challenge returns for the third year.  Proudly hosted by Club 100, it is the 2nd race in the Autumn Series.  Fast-paced through Simonstown, and then THAT climb!
