WPCA League – Fall 2015 – Event 6 – Mitchell’s Plain – Results

WPCA is proud to release the results for the league race on Sunday 17 May 2015 in Mitchell’s Plain and hosted by Cape Town Giants Cycling Club.  Thanks guys for a great event and thanks to all the cyclists that came to support this race.

Track Cycling – Let the racing begin

Track racing is about to reach a newer level. For the first time we will have inter-club champs with a twist. Soon clubs will compete against each other (round-robin) to determine who is the TOP CLUB in WP. Then there’s the Top Trackie and “How Far Can You Go” challenge. How will it work?

Western Province Top Club

8 Events:

  • Open scratch 15 km
  • 1500m,
  • Team Pursuit 4000m,
  • Team Sprint

These are open for Juniors, Elites, Vets and Women (combine to form teams)

  • U16 scratch 7 km, Team Pursuit 3000m
  • U14 scratch 5 km, Team Pursuit 2000m

Points will be awarded as follows:

  • Team Sprint – 5 and 2 points
    Team Pursuit – 5 and 2 points
    Scratch 5, 3, 2 and 1 point

Points will be added and by the end of the competition one club will be awarded with the WP TOP CLUB trophy.

Top Trackies Leader board

How will this work:
Want to have the ultimate bragging rights over your mates? Then come and take part in our “Top Trackies” event. Come along every second Sunday and race the events, record your time, which will go on the leader board. Challenge your mates or go for your personal best, see how much you have improve.

The events:
200m, 500m, 1000m, Individual Pursuit (Elites,Juniors, Vets, Women, U/16 only)

“How Far Can You Go”

The title says it all…ride as fast and as far as you can (IP) in a certain amount of time. Starting from 15 min up to 60 min, how far can you go!

Dates for competition will be made available as soon as rider numbers are made known from all clubs.

Many thanks to Cedar Cycling Club for hosting a successful WPCA League event.  We trust you all enjoy the racing.

Please note that we are hosting these races with the help from our local clubs.  We do not have the resources like other organisations to have dedicated staff.  Motivate your local club to help us host a future event.  Also give us some feedback about what works and what needs to improve on our FB page.  We are investigating electronic timing (before we get flooded with that!).

How does it work?

The results are based on the points riders accumulate during each of the Fall 2015 league events. For each category points are awarded as such;

Which races qualify?

This league is run from April 2015 and points will be awareded until Event 9 at Killarney.  Due to Ramadan we will not include the results of Event 10, which is held on the Fisantekraal circuit.
