Paarl Boxing Day Track Challenge 2023

BOXING DAY ENTRIES ARE NOW OPEN!

  • The 125th staging of the historic Paarl Boxing Day Track Challenge will see South Africa’s top professionals as well as a host of international riders tackle each in front of the passionate Faure Street Stadium crowd.
  • Past winner and international star, Jonas Rickaert has also confirmed his participation. A total of R100 000 is up for grabs in prize money this year. Paarl Boxing Day is well known worldwide as one of the oldest events in all forms of cycling in the world.
  • The meeting started in 1897. The saying goes in Paarl that you might be the best in the world in a certain track cycling event, but it doesn’t mean much if you’re second best in Paarl!
  • Paarl is the cradle of track cycling in South-Africa. Boxing Day is not only the biggest track cycling event in Africa, it’s also one of the most spectated sporting events on the continent. The meeting concludes with the famous 25 Mile Race and the winner of the final event is regarded as the winner of the day. In addition to a prize purse, the Minnaar Cup floating trophy, which dates to 1908, is also up for grabs.

Eligibility:
This event is open to all age categories and nationalities.
All riders must be in possession of a valid Cycling South Africa Track Racing License (Cycling SA Membership is not sufficient for Juniors and older).
Rider licenses have been verified before the time but must still be presented at registration.
Riders are not considered registered until all administrative requirements have been fulfilled:
• Entry form has been completed in full together with signed indemnity form
• Entry Fee has been paid in full

Registration will take place on the 26th of December from 09:00 am till 11:00 pm at the stadium. Riders are requested to arrive well in advance.

WC Omnium Track Championships 2023

WC Track is hosting, a very first, Omnium Track Champs from 21-22 October 2023 at the Bellville Velodrome, Cape Town.

We just hosted the National Omnium champs where riders competed for the top spots in the various age categories. The WC Omnium champs won’t be nothing less than fast, hard paced racing.

Categories

The event will be run according to the categories listed below. Despite how the entry system will capture your registration, the final awards will be based to these categories alone.

* Women categories might be combined if not enough entries. Points will be awarded separately. Awards will be determined based on the final points. For example, the 3 Junior Women with the 3 highest points in the final, overall points will podium.

Event format

Day 1 is set aside for the Elite, Junior and U17 Boys only. Day 2 will see the scholars and Master’s categories competing.

The series will run over Saturday 19 Nov and Friday 2 Dec. U17 and older will compete in the following events.

18 Nov: Scratch and tempo for U17 and older; scratch races for scholars U11-u15

2 Dec: Elimination and points for u17 and older; scratch races for scholars U11-u15

Winter Track League #2

League #2

Due to Level 4 lockdown regulations racing came to an abrupt halt, however we managed to come up with a plan to start racing again. Racing will now be split into 2 sessions, with session 1 starting from 12h00 – 13h30 which will cater for the Scholars (Cat C&D) and session 2 starting from 14h00 – 16h00 for the Elites/Vets/Ladies (Cat A&B) respectively.

Event Regulations

Very important information: In line with the Level 4 regulations we are allowed to have 50 people inside the venue. With that said, NO SPECTATORS will be allowed inside the venue. Only riders and managers will be allowed inside. Security will not allow anybody access who should not be there. Its imperative that we all adhere to the rules if we want to continue with racing at the Velodrome. Apart from the medical services, no parking inside the venue to avoid people from slipping in.

Winter Track League #3 – FINAL

 

The Finale

The final leg of the Winter Track League (shortened due to Covid) will take place on 12 October 2021 at the Bellville Velodrome. This will be the last chance for riders to get themselves ready for the upcoming Western Cape Track Championships taking place end of October.

Apart from the medical services, no parking inside the venue to ensure that everyone adhere to Covid 19 regulations.
